. . . bringing the past to the present
Welcome!
The New England Region/Carriage Association of America was founded in October 1969 by 32 members of the Carriage Association of America in New England. It is the oldest of the CAA chapters.
We are a group composed of carriage fanciers, carriage drivers and lovers of history, particularly that of New England. Our interests range from restoration and conservation of carriages and sleighs, to pleasure driving in modern-made vehicles, to combined driving.
In the past, the NER/CAA organized horse shows such as the Maine Carriage Days, the Monadnock and Northampton Shows and the Kent School Driving workshops. In the early years, there were few driving clubs but in recent years, many new ones have been organized and are offering local events .
Now, the NER/CAA has a centerpiece event held in the early spring of every year with a three-day program
including speakers, visits to horse-drawn vehicle museums and/or private collections and our annual meeting. Members enjoy learning from experts in their field, historians, personal tours of unique horse-drawn vehicles and camaraderie! You don't need to own a horse to appreciate the beauty and craftsmanship of these carriages. Join us for an up-close and personal glimpse into our rich New England history by becoming a member today!
Please contact us with any questions you may have.
